The surgeons of the Women's Surgery Center are committed to teaching laparoscopic surgical techniques to gynecologists. Through their affiliation with George Washington University Hospital as Associate Clinical and Assistant Clinical Professors Drs. MacKoul, Danilyants, and Khoury train gynecologic surgeons in the use of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in the operating room.
Dr. MacKoul has established a gynecologic laparoscopy fellowship at George Washington University Hospital wherein he trains one gynecologist each year to utilize these sophisticated laparoscopic techniques for gynecologic conditions. This fellowship is sponsored by Ethicon Endo Surgery (EES), the makers of the laparoscopic tools used by the Women's Surgery Center phsyicians.
EES is also sponsoring a monthly physician preceptorship which will allow surgeons the opportunity to learn a modified retroperitoneal approach to gynecologic laparoscopy. On selected dates, Dr. MacKoul and Dr. Danilyants will first offer a lecture about the technique and then instruct phsyicians through several live case demonstrations. Physicians who would like additional information about upcoming programs can download a flyer. If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please contact the Women's Surgery Center or your EES representative.
