Dr. Lii is researching ways to perform surgery for her patients in the most effective and least invasive way possible. She will be presenting educational WSC surgery statistics at the national AAGL conference this November. The abstract title is "A Novel Approach to Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Using Only Two 5mm Ports: Initial Clinical Experience." Dr. Lii is an expert in performing traditional laparoscopic hysterectomies with 3-4 incisions, each incision only 5mm long. Along with Drs. MacKoul and Danilyants, she is a pioneer in the 2-port hysterectomy, which is a new and innovative technique using only 2 incisions. The result is a near scar-less surgery. Blood loss is usually minimal, and most patients are able to return home on the same day of surgery. Dr Lii has a special interest in international work. While in medical school, she took classes beyond the standard curriculum such as "Disaster Relief" and "Nutrition in the Third World", and spent nearly 3 months in rural India. In 2010, she was chosen to be part of a medical team who traveled to Guatemala to perform gyn surgeries, including hysterectomies, on women in the region.
